神が舞い降りた場所とされる大斎原。今でも「パワースポット」として知られています。
Oyunohara is said to be a place where the gods descended, and even today it is known as a powerful spiritual site.
どこまでも続くような広大な河原。その空間を包み込むように静かに流れる川の音。そして、その中に佇む神の杜と大鳥居。険しい山道を越えてこの場所にたどり着いたとき、まるで異世界に来たかのような感覚に包まれました。「ここは本当に聖なる地なのだ」と、自然とそう感じられます。1000年前の人々も、きっと同じように神の存在を感じていたのではないでしょうか。
An endless-looking riverbed stretches before you.The gentle sound of the river flows quietly, enveloping the entire space.Within it stands a sacred grove and a towering torii gate.After walking through the steep mountain trail and finally arriving here,I felt as if I had stepped into another world.It naturally made me feel that this is truly a sacred place.Perhaps people a thousand years ago felt the presence of the gods here in the same way.
大斎原は、三つの川の合流地点にあります。この川は、かつて俗世と聖なる世界を隔てる境界とされていました。川を渡った先にある大斎原は、この世ではなく、神の世界と考えられていたのです。
Oyunohara is located at the confluence of three rivers.This river was once considered the boundary between the ordinary world and the sacred realm.Beyond the river lies Oyunohara,which was believed to exist not in this world, but in a divine realm.
大斎原は「よみがえりの地」とも呼ばれています。「よみがえり」とは、死後の世界である「黄泉（よみ）」に一度行き、再び戻ってくること、すなわち生き返ることを意味します。熊野に参拝することで、人は一度この世を離れて聖なる世界へ入り、そこで罪を洗い流し、新たな生命として生まれ変わると考えられていました。
Oyunohara is also known as a place of “Yomigaeri.”“Yomigaeri” refers to the idea of going to the world of the dead—known as Yomi—and returning again, in other words, being revived.It was believed that by visiting Kumano, one would leave the ordinary world, enter the sacred realm,wash away past sins, and be reborn with renewed life and energy.
日本では古くから、川はこの世とあの世を隔てる存在とされてきました。死者は川を渡って極楽浄土へ向かうとされ、「三途の川」や「塞の河原」として、昔話や絵の中にも描かれています。
In Japan, rivers have long been seen as boundaries between this world and the next.It is believed that the dead cross a river to reach the Pure Land,a concept that appears in stories and paintings as the “Sanzu River” or the “Sai no Kawara.”
