桓武天皇や嵯峨天皇から信頼されながら、権力や俗事を避け、隠棲を好んだ玄賓という僧の庵と伝えられます。奈良県桜井市、大神神社の近くにあります。
It is said to have been the hermitage of a monk named Genpin玄賓,who was trusted by Emperor Kanmu and Enperor Saga,but avoided power and worldly affairs and preferred to live in seclusion. It is located near Omiwa Shrine in Sakurai City, Nara Prefecture.
玄賓庵に関する昔話があります。大神神社の神様は色々なものに化けることができますが、ある日人間の女性に恋をした大神神社の神様は、人間の男性に姿を変え、毎夜その女性のもとを訪れていました。ある日その女性は、恋人（人間の姿をした大神神社の神）が夜しか訪ねてこないのを不思議に思い、恋人に尋ねました。すると恋人は、もう二度と女性のもとに来ることはできないと告げ、帰ってしまいました。悲しんだ女性は恋人の衣に糸をつけ、糸を頼りに恋人の居場所を探すと、神様が宿る杉に糸がついているのを見つけました。そこで女性は、恋人が杉に宿る神様だったことを知ったのでした。そしてその女性も、女神様になったのでした。
There is an old story about Genpin hermitage.The god of Omiwa Shrine can take the form of many different things.One day,the god of Omiwa Shirane fell in love with a human woman,and changed into a human man, and visited the woman every night.One day, the woman wondered why her lover(the human-shaped god of Omiwa Shrine)only visited at night,so she asked him about it.Then the lover told her that he could never come to her again and went away.She grieved and attached a thread to her lover’s clothing,and searched for her lover’s whereabouts,and she found the thread attached to a cedar tree where the god resided.There, she found that here lover was a god residing in the cedar. And she also became a goddess.
日本の神様は時々、人間のもとを訪れて昔話を語ります。その女神も玄賓庵を訪れて、自分の物語を語ったと伝えられています。
Japanese gods sometimes visit humans and tell them old stories. It is said that the goddess also visited Genpin and told her own story.
