日本人の宗教　Japanese religion

日本人は無宗教と言われます。多くの日本人は自分のことを無宗教だと思っているし、現代社会で神や仏を信じるのは心が弱そうでカッコ悪いと思っているし、寺と神社の違いも分からない人が多いようです。

It is said that Japanese people are non-religious. Many Japanese people consider themselves to be non-religious, and many people think believing in gods or Buddha in modern society is weak-minded and uncool, and many Japanese people do not even know the difference between a temple and a shrine.

ですが、どの町にも神社や寺があって、神社や寺のお祭りなどの行事に参加している多くの老若男女がいます。古い町だと、城や大名屋敷はなくなっても古い神社や寺は残っていることが多くあります。そう思うと、日本人も心の奥底で神様を信じているような気がします。

However, every town has shrines and temples, and many people of all ages and genders participate in festivals and other events at these shrines and temples. In older towns, even if castles and feudal lords residences are gone, the old shrines and temples often remain. When I think about it, it seems that Japanese people also believe in gods deep in their hearts.
