源頼朝から追われる義経と一緒に行動していた静でしたが、逃亡の足手纏いになるからと、義経から離れることになりました。
Shizuka, who had been accompanying Yoshitsune as they were pursued by Minamoto no Yoritomo, ended up separating from Yoshitsune to avoid hindering their escape.
源義経と別れた後の静は義経の居場所を聞かれましたが、ついに義経の居場所は分からないままでした。舞の名手として名高い静は、源頼朝から舞を所望されました。その時の歌詞。
After parting ways with Yoshitsune, Shizuka was repeatedly asked about Yoshitsune’s whereabouts, but the whereabouts of Yoshitsune remained unknown.As Shizuka was a famous dancer, Minamoto no Yoritomo requested her performance.Shizuka sang as this;
しづやしづ しづのおだまき 繰り返し 昔を今に なすよしもがな
「しづのおだまき」とは簡単に言えば、布を織るための糸の玉。糸の玉を繰り返して巻いていくように、昔を今に引き寄せて、昔を今に戻す手段があればいいのに。昔に戻りたい、という意味。
Shizuyashizu shizunoodamaki kurikaeshi mukashiwoimani nasuyoshimogana
“Shizunoodamaki” can be simply described as a ball of thread used for weaving fabric. Just as the thread is spun, there is a wish to draw the past closer to the present and return to the past. It conveys the desire to go back to the past.
もう一つ 吉野山 峰の白雪 踏み分けて 入りにし人の 跡ぞ恋しき
吉野山の峰の白雪を踏み分けて入っていった人（義経）の跡が恋しい
One more ;Yoshinoyama minenoshirayuki humiwakete irinishihitono atozokoishiki
I long for the person (Yoshitsune) who entered through the snowy peaks of Mount Yoshino.
義経を思う歌を歌う静に、頼朝は激怒しましたが、頼朝の妻政子が言いました。「もしも私が同じ立場ならば、同じように歌うでしょう。」そこで頼朝の怒りは鎮まったと言われています。
When Shizuka sang songs expressing her love for Yoshitsune, Yoritomo became furious. However, Yoritomo’s wife, Masako said, “If I were in the same position, I would sing in the same way.” Yoritomo’s anger subsided after hearing Masako’s words.
