日本の始まりの場所とも言われます。神武天皇が日本を建国したとされる橿原宮跡に、明治時代に建てられました。
Kashihara Shrine is also said to be the birthplace of Japan.It was built in the Meiji period on the site of the Kashihara Palace, where Emperor Jinmu神武天皇 had founded Japan.
鳥居は、素木の鳥居です。赤く塗った鳥居が有名ですが、本来は鳥居は白なのだそうです。白は神聖な色とされ、特に皇室に関係のある神社では白い鳥居が使われるそうです。
The Torii gates鳥居 are made of plain wood. The red painted Torii gates are famous, but originally Torii gates were white. White is considered a sacred color, and white Torii gates are used especially at shrines related to the Imperial family.
さざれ石
日本の国歌「君が代」に出てくる「さざれ石」は、小さい石という意味です。国歌の歌詞「君が代は千代に八千代にさざれ石の巌となりて苔のむすまで」は、小さい石が固まって大きな岩になって、その上に苔が生えるまで、天皇の世が末長く平和に保たれますように、という意味です。
Sazareishiさざれ石 small stone
The word “sazareishi”that appears in the Japanese national anthem “Kimigayo君が代“ means small stones. The lyrics of the anthem “Kimigayo wa chiyo ni Yachiyo ni Sazareishi no Iwao to Narite Koke no Musa made” means that reign of the Emperor will be kept for a long time in peace, until the small stones harden into large rocks and moss grows on them.
今年は巳年なので、蛇の絵馬がかけられていました。
This year is the year of the snake, so there is votive plaque of snake.
