日本最古とも言われる神社。古代の日本人が、自然の力を神様と崇めたことが納得できる場所です。奈良県桜井市にあります。

しばらく森の中の小道を歩きます。大きな神社にはほとんど森の中の小道を通る参道があります。本殿に到着する前に、自然の中で心が清められていくような感覚になります。
Walk along the path in the forest for a while. Most large shrines have an approach that follows a path through the forest. Before arriving at the main shrine, you will feel as if your soul is purified by nature.
拝殿。山が御神体のため、神社の中に御神体はないそうです。
Hall of worship. Since the mountain is the object of worship,there is no object of worship inside the shrine.
大杉。大神神社に住む神様は、白蛇の姿になって現れることもあるそうです。その白蛇がこの杉の大木に現れるそうです。
Big cedar tree.It is said that the god who lives at Omiwa Shrine sometimes appears in the form of a white snake. It is said that the white snake appears in this large cedar tree.
大神神社の神様は、人間の姿になって人間の女性と恋をしたことがあるそうです。その女性が、夜しか訪ねてこない恋人のことを不思議に思い、恋人の正体を知るために密かに恋人の着物に糸をつけて後をつけたところ、糸は杉の枝についていました。その女性の恋人は、杉の木に住んでいた神様だったのでした。
It is said that the god of Omiwa Shrine once took the form of a human and fell in love with a human woman. The woman was curious about her lover, who only visited her at night, and she secretly attached a thread to her lover’s clothes and followed him to find out his true identity, and she found the thread ended up attached to the branch of a cedar tree.The woman’s lover was a god who lived in a cedar tree.
白蛇になった神様にお供えするための卵が売られています。
Eggs are sold to be offered to the god who become a white snake.
